Koble means “to connect” in Norwegian. And connection is at the heart of everything we do.

Our communities face ever-growing challenges that can, at times, feel insurmountable. But we feel we can transform the world around us in positive ways, together. Carolyn Berg founded Koble Collaborative, Inc. driven by her passion to uplift and empower people to come together. To find common ground, build deep relationships and partnerships, and ultimately, to solve community challenges.

OUR TEAM

Meet Carolyn

Our Founder and CEO, Carolyn Berg, P.E., brings 18 years of experience building long-standing relationships and managing complex projects throughout the San Luis Obispo countywide region. Ms. Berg has successfully led the development of policies, plans, multi-agency partnerships, and projects that address some of San Luis Obispo County region’s more complex issues, including: sustainable water resources planning and implementation, connecting regional housing and infrastructure strategies, developing governance structures, creating unified action among partners addressing future affordable housing needs and more. Her dynamic leadership style focuses on uplifting and empowering people to come together and overcome challenges.

In 2015, the Danish national government invited her and nine other U.S. professionals to learn about and consult on water resources innovation, exchange thoughts on water issues and solutions, and identify partnership opportunities, highlighting Carolyn’s role in the industry as a thought leader who builds far-reaching and impactful relationships.

Meet Annie

Annie Chung brings a highly person-centric foundation to all of her projects, having studied Psychology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and completed a teaching certification. With five years of experience teaching at the elementary level across different learning models, Annie adapts to challenging circumstances and still meets the needs of diverse audiences. Getting middle school-aged students to engage in-person and virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic pushed Annie to learn how to motivate participation and create dynamic interactions for all types of collaborators with diverse perspectives.

Trained in clinical and counseling psychology, Annie is able to navigate difficult conversations, help bring attention to potential blind spots, improve interpersonal relationships, and sharpen intrapersonal skills. During her time teaching, Annie was trained by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence in their RULER program, and implemented it at her school site over a two year period. This program bridged gaps between staff and opened fruitful conversation and growth for many employees and students. She has led in various ways on staff teams, and loves nothing more than to see others flourish.

Since joining Koble Collaborative in 2023, she has played an integral part in planning and facilitating strategic planning and community engagement sessions for local organizations, as well as articulating clear deliverables coalescing stakeholders’ input. She keeps the company running smoothly day to day.
